I’m a bit late to the party but decided to give it a go anyway. Share Your World Special Edition will be co-hosted by another blogger, Roger Shipp and there will be questions related to/about the Harry Potter movie series. I just re-watched all of them recently and am a fan of the books and movies so I’m doing both sets.
This week is about the first book/movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
For the random ‘plain’ questions:
Would you rather live 120 years that are comfortable but boring, or live half as long, but have an exciting, adventure-packed life?
I wouldn’t want to live to 120, honestly. And while I love adventure and excitement in my life, I don’t think having them all the time is sustainable. I would want to enjoy life with the boring and exciting parts in it.
What’s something that overwhelms you?
I don’t get overwhelmed easily, but I remember feeling overwhelmed with sorrow at seeing piles of dead bodies from a tragic accident while covering news for a school paper (long, long time ago), and overwhelmed with incredulity at witnessing some people’s worst deeds/behavior.
What do or did you take for granted?
In light of the pandemic situation we’re all in, I guess the joy and freedom of being able to do mundane tasks like walking outside, dining out, seeing people face-to-face (without face masks/shields) etc.
For the Harry Potter questions:
Because of the state-wide quarantines many of the local SPCA’s are having an influx of animals. You have decided that you would love to have a new pet. Would you go the normal wizardry route and pick an owl, a cat, or a toad? Or would you become a more eccentric wizard (like Hagrid, the games keeper) and seek out a three-headed dog, a dragon, or a unicorn? Please explain your answer.
A unicorn just to see what the fuss is all about, just kidding. Maybe like Dumbledore’s phoenix or an owl.
Neville Longbottom was gifted a Remembrall. This was a glass ball that would assist you in maintaining memories of things that you often forget. What would you want your Remembrall to help you remember?
Something important and urgent that I should accomplish, otherwise I got my list. I’d like a smart remembrall, haha.
Professor Dumbledore gave Harry Potter an invisibility cloak that Dumbledore said was from Harry’s father. Now, you have inherited a cloak with similar powers. Would you use it? When?
I’d use as needed. First to test it, and then when I really want to be unseen or noticed, like in a closed-door meeting or to escape a dangerous situation.
While cleaning your attic, you have discovered the Mirror of Erised. (“Erised” is “desire” spelled backwards, as if reflected in a mirror) The Mirror of Erised is a magical mirror, which, according to Professor Dumbledore, when you gaze into it, it shows the “deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.” You have chosen to look in the mirror. What do you see?
Not sure. I could use such a mirror right now.
Optional Section – Gratitude:
I’m certainly grateful for having a partner, backup plans in terms of income (which are no longer backup these days), and all the basics I need to survive for the next few months to a year.
