Share Your World Pt. 3 – On Happiness, Play and Secret Tunnels

This 3rd installation of Share Your World meets Harry Potter series brought to us by Melanie and Roger gives us questions inspired by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The Harry Potter questions:

One of my favorite gifts that Harry Potter received came from the Weasley Twins; and was “Mrs. Mooney’s Marauder’s Map.” This magical document showed every classroom, hallway and secret corner in all of Hogwarts. It also showed you the location-by name of every person in Hogwarts. If you had such a magical map of your town, what would you use it for? If you would not use it, is there another person to whom you would gift it?

We have a version of this in our time like Google Maps and a few other apps. But the Marauder’s Map is fun and If I had it, I’d use it during trips to new places. And to check which places are already or still open for exploration. I’d gift it to my future kid if I ever have any.

When was the last time you made a snowball? Were in a snowball fight?

It doesn’t snow where I’m from so my first experience of it was in my early 20s during a business trip abroad. I was with colleagues and strangers so no snowball fight then, or yet. I made a snowball discreetly while out on lunch that snowy day.

Many cultures set great value in each child of the family having godparents. Did you have godparents? Are you a godparent yourself?

I had godparents, on paper. Or so I heard. But I haven’t met them save for the time when I was a baby. I am a godparent to a friend’s daughter and I take it seriously.

You have found a secret tunnel under your house. Where does it go?

It leads to a Room as Needed, which can have or be anything I need i.e. panic room, hideout, bat cave, snack room etc.

The muggle questions:

Is intelligence or wisdom more useful?

Both are useful and has its purpose. Intelligence has to do with aptitude, with learning and its applications, while wisdom is the ability to discern what’s good/right/sound based on knowledge, experience, understanding, insight. Both are needed to live a good life.

How important is play in living a healthy and fulfilling life?

Very important. I think it helps bring balance in our lives and keeps us ‘young’.

Is happiness just chemicals flowing through your brain or something more?

Not just chemicals, but the chemicals are a necessary part of the happiness equation. For me, it’s a mix of internal and external experiences that bring us to a state involving positive feelings, emotions.

  1. Thank you so much for Sharing Your World! I like the idea of a ‘Room As Needed’ that could morph into anything one wished. That’s really cool! I agree fully with your thoughts on happiness, intelligence and wisdom and play! A snowball fight is a lot of fun, but it’s not terribly mature. Maybe that’s why children mostly engage in them, but not adults. BUT. It’s still a lot of fun (when done in the spirit of silly play) whatever one’s age. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! ☺

  2. I like that your tunnel will lead to an ‘all purpose room’. That would have been great to have. I think, now, I woudl use that ‘all purpose’ as my storage room so the spare rooms don’t look like I have hoarder tendencies?

Sorry, I got around late this week, but I guess “better late than never.” I am so glad you tried the Potter questions. Hope to see you next week.

    1. Like an in-house self-storage with no rent, that’ll be handy. Don’t be sorry, I don’t keep track of those things, or the days recently😅.Any feedback/response is always welcome😊.
