Share Your World Pt. 4 – On Nightmares, Cravings and A Bug Story

For this week, Share Your World Meets Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. From this part of the book/movie series, the tone gets darker and heavy, less children’s books and more YA.

For the magical, mystical questions:

Have you ever spent the night in a house that was supposedly haunted? Anything ‘strange” happen?

Not the whole house per se, but we used to live in a rented townhouse and the guest bedroom gave me the chills. I used to have nightmares whenever I slept in that room.

The Quidditch Cup (riding broomsticks while chasing a small ball) was a huge sporting event in the land of Hogwarts. What is the largest sporting event (or concert, etc.) that you have ever attended?

My aunt used to bring me with her to work and she did the lighting system for concerts in the Philippines back in the day. I was lucky enough to get free passes to big concerts i.e. Michael Jackson, Patty Austin, Sting/Bryan Adams, Air Supply, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and even Metallica. I was too young to know these artists but it was good fun just enjoying their music, for free 😃

When you go for a swim, do you prefer an ocean, the seaside lakes, or a pool?

I prefer the ocean then lakes, not so much the pool. My friend and I visited a popular place for surfing in the Philippines and didn’t realize until later that our instructor was the 8-time national surfing champion. He was so passionate and humble and charged us next to nothing! I learned more about passion (aside from surfing) that day more than anything else.

Tell about the most ‘ghastly’ fashion statement that you have ever made.

I haven’t been that adventurous when it comes to fashion in my youth. I’m a late bloomer like that. It was only after university that I did experiment with a few pieces here and there, and I tried to limit them to costume parties. By the time I was braver in that department, I started working corporate jobs that had some sort of hair color restrictions or dress code, or at least frowned upon certain looks. So I never got to try going extreme, let alone ghastly.

For the muggle questions:

What is the last song you sang along to?

Either a cover of Dream On by Aerosmith or Stars by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. See videos below. These women know how to rock!

What was your scariest nightmare about?

A scene from the Exorcist where someone (me, in a nightmare) was suspended in mid-air, utterly helpless and at the mercy of the devil. Or a chase scene where I can’t seem to run as fast as I could. Usually something related to a horror movie I recently saw.

What food do you crave most often?

Lately, ice cream. Choco peanut butter or those korean types. And cake.

What’s your grossest bug story?

A long time ago, a friend was discouraging some of us from chewing gum at night then falling asleep without spitting it out and told us this story – one of his family had this bad habit of falling asleep with a gum in her mouth. One night in a sleepover, a cockroach went inside her mouth and she chewed it in her sleep. She was sent to a hospital afterwards. It worked back then and tops a bed bug story in a hotel stay abroad while on a trip just before covid happened.

  1. Thank you very much for Sharing a Very Interesting World! You’ve had a lot of life adventures! That cockroach story tops all the ones I’ve read thus far, it wins the ‘grossest’ prize! Ew. Those things are so nasty, I’m not surprised a trip to the hospital was in order. Following the fads vis a vis clothing or hairstyles is vastly over-rated, and I don’t think you missed much by missing out on that. Those concerts sounds AMAZING. How lucky you were!

    1. I do consider myself lucky for getting into those concerts at a young age (barely a teenager then, especially after finding out years later how expensive they could get. As for the cockroach story, not something I’d like to get a prize for but the question reminded me of that, and grossed me out all over again😅

  2. ‘Michael Jackson, Patty Austin, Sting/Bryan Adams, Air Supply, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and even Metallica’ That had to have been a great job!

I could have lasted my ENTIRE life a NOT HEARD the buble gum story. GROSS!!!

Thanks for participating in this weeks questions.
